Pedigree Request

Interbull Service users receive pedigree information with each official Interbull Routine Evaluation (MACE, GMACE, IG). The pedigree shared on such occasions is a relatively small extract of the whole IDEA pedigree database representing the pedigree for the specific breed of evaluation (HOL, JER, RDC, GUE, SIM, BSW).

Receiving this information is considered part of the service related to such evaluations and is essential for organisations to process the (foreign/unknown) animals’ information they receive through the international evaluations.

Many Service Users collaborate internationally outside the Interbull evaluation’s cycle and have expressed the desire to receive pedigree information as available in the Interbull IDEA database -mostly regarding young animals- with a higher frequency than the three official Routine evaluations.

More frequent pedigree updates are considered an essential aspect for making more frequent genotypes exchange through, for example, the Interbull GenoEx-GDE platform. Also, allowing exchange of young animals’ pedigree will provide an initial support for breeds other than HOL and BSW which are not yet involved in any genomic services.
