Performance Recording, Evaluation and Publication Database

The Performance Recording, Evaluation and Publication database ( PREPdb  ) is a database that allows breed societies and designated third parties (National Genetic Evaluation Centres) to share information in a standardized format instead of using 'free text' descriptions.

It consists of several electronic forms designed for different purposes. These forms help collect, organise and compare data on breeds and traits included in international evaluations run by the Interbull Centre. They also allow for the submission of information on other breeds or traits that might be considered for future evaluations.

It has been developed and maintained by the Interbull Centre as part of its role as the EURC and it allows users to upload information about performance recording, national genetic evaluation systems, and publications policies in a clear and comparable format.

This platform is open to all breeding organisations, also those not involved in Interbull's dairy or beef evaluations. Ongoing development aims to expand its usefulness as a resource for knowledge sharing among breeding organisations, genetic evaluation centres, regulatory authorities, and academics.

All traits currently inluded in an international genetic evaluation (dairy and beef) now have their respective electronic form in PREPdb. From now on the usage of the former National Genetic Evaluation (GE) forms will be disbanded. Instead, organisations are expected to provide updates on their national genetic evaluations directly inside PREPdb. Development of electronic forms for reporting descriptive information regarding genomic evaluations is ecpected to be completed in 2025.
