Interbull "SNP Mace" Consultation Webinar 2021

Earlier in 2021, Interbull completed the research phase of the “SNPMace” project: The Interbull SNPMace method (a meta-analysis that improves the accuracy of SNP solution by combining the estimated SNP effects from different countries without the need to exchange raw data or genotypes) has been successfully developed.

In contrast to the input of national Bull EBVs into the current MACE evaluations, input data into SNPMace are national SNP effect estimates.

Interbull would now like to implement a pilot run prior to offering the Interbull community a potential new service based on the SNPMace method.

Considering the significant difference between the current Interbull services and the envisaged SNPMace service, Interbull wishes to consult its current Service Users on the business model and principles behind it, as well as target breeds and traits for this potential new service.

This consultation process will start with a dedicated webinar on 24 November 2021. Following a brief overview of the technical aspects of the SNPMace method, the webinar will focus on:

  • the principles of the business model;
  • aims of the pilot run and proposed service;
  • introduction to the consultation survey.

The consultation survey aims to collect feedback from current Interbull Service Users about understanding of and support for the business model principles for the proposed SNPMace service. Moreover, current Interbull Service Users will be asked some questions on how they envisage the SNPMace service.

The survey will be distributed by 26 November 2021 and the deadline for providing feedback is set on 15 December 2021.

This webinar is not primarily a technical discussion but a discussion of how the new potential SNPMace service could be used, how it might be rolled out and how it might be charged for by Interbull.

The webinar was open to all interested parties and was held on24 November 2021 at 19:00 to 20:00 (Central European Time) 13:00 to 14:00 (Eastern Standard Time, North America)
